Fondation pour le Développement Local et le Partenariat – Micro-crédit (FONDEP)

Grameen-Jameel in MoroccoFONDEP was established in Morocco in 1996 as a non-profit organization, with the objective of contributing to the economic integration of disadvantaged individuals into the national Moroccan economy through the financing of income-generating micro-projects.

FONDEP is the third largest MFI in the microfinance market in Morocco. As of March 2012, FONDEP has 131,400 active clients, and its gross loan portfolio amounts to USD 84 million.

FONDEP received an “A” from MicroFinanza in April 2011. It was ranked #5 on the Forbes Top 50 MFIs in 2007 and #100 on the 2009 MIX Global 100 composite list of top MFIs worldwide.

Grameen-Jameel partnered with FONDEP in 2004 and has provided direct loans and guarantees that have generated over USD 15 million in local currency financing, in addition to various technical assistance, including but not limited to training and initiating a pilot program for Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI)
